Description

Pecan Turtle Bars with Caramel & Chocolate: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup caramel candies (softened)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray or parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped pecans to the dough until evenly distributed.
  7. Evenly spread the dough into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. While the bars are baking, melt the caramel candies and heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  10. Once the bars are out of the oven, pour the melted caramel over the top, spreading it evenly across the surface.
  11. Immediately sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the warm caramel layer, allowing them to melt slightly.
  12. Allow the bars to cool at room temperature for about an hour, then refrigerate for an additional hour to help them set before cutting into squares.
