Description
Pecan Turtle Bars with Caramel & Chocolate: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup caramel candies (softened)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray or parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chopped pecans to the dough until evenly distributed.
- Evenly spread the dough into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the bars are baking, melt the caramel candies and heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Once the bars are out of the oven, pour the melted caramel over the top, spreading it evenly across the surface.
- Immediately sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the warm caramel layer, allowing them to melt slightly.
- Allow the bars to cool at room temperature for about an hour, then refrigerate for an additional hour to help them set before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
- These bars can be frozen for up to three months.
