- 1 loaf of Italian or French bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. You can also slice it into smaller pieces if preferred.
- In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Generously spread the garlic butter mixture on the cut sides of the bread.
- If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread for an extra layer of flavor.
- Wrap the bread halves in aluminum foil to keep them moist during baking.
- Place the wrapped bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is warm and the butter has melted.
- For an added crunch, remove the foil and broil the bread for an additional 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
