Delicious French Dip Squares Recipe: An Incredible Ultimate Guide

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound thinly sliced roast beef (deli-style)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Au Jus: In a small saucepan, combine beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Heat over medium heat until warmed and well combined. Set aside.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet.
  4. Place half of the sliced roast beef evenly across the center of the pastry. Top with provolone and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Layer the remaining roast beef on top of the cheese.
  6. Carefully fold the sides of the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges tightly.
  7. Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg.
  8. Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry into squares or rectangles.
  9. Place the squares on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with the prepared au jus for dipping.
