  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, jalapeños

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef (or turkey) to the pot. Cook until browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, and black beans. Stir to combine.
  6. Pour in the broth and add the Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
  7. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer uncovered for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Taste the chili and adjust seasoning as needed.
  9. Ladle the chili into bowls and add your favorite toppings.
